An article in the latest edition of Habitat magazine illustrates how FirstService Project Management came to the rescue after a glass balcony panel at 325 Fifth Ave. — a high-profile 47-story luxury building — shattered, resulting in a cascade of falling glass.
With conflicting reports as to the cause of the crack, the board was having a difficult time finding a solution. They hired FirstService Project Management to assess the situation and find a resolution.
All of the glass balconies have now been replaced with the cost being shared by the sponsor, the building and the insurance company.
This project was extremely complicated and had the potential to undergo huge litigation, as well as many years of scaffolding and unusable balconies. Due to the skilled negotiations and leadership at FSPM, there was a relatively small financial impact on the building.
